To be heedless about the daily prayers:
)فَوَيْلٌ لِلْمُصَلِّينَ *الَّذينَ هُمْ عَنْ صَلاتِهِمْ ساهُونَ*الَّذينَ هُمْ يُراؤُنَ *وَ يَمْنَعُونَ الْماعُونَ(
@Woe to them who pray* those who are heedless of their prayers* those who show off* but deny aid*A[1]
These verses point to those who don’t care for their Salat , it is not a matter for them not to perform it at all or to do it sometimes and not to do it other times, or they don’t care to do it as soon as the time of Salat enters or they do not care to learn the rulings regarding Salat and it is ok with them if they do it in a wrong way.
A Hadith from Imam Sadiq(A.S) says: this verse - those who are heedless of their prayers - is about those who delay Salat without any excuse.[2]
In the book Khisal [3],it is narrated from Amirol-mo'menin Ali (A.S): there is no act better than Salat ,so be careful not to give priority to any action or worldly affair over it , because Allah S.T has blamed a group of people for this action by saying:
B those who are heedless of their prayersC
Another feature of these people is that they show off, and their actions lack Ikhlas. And also they don’t care for those poor and needy people. In fact to help people is one of the conditions mentioned in Ahadith and also in the Quran that helps your action to be accepted by Allah S.T
Absence of heart in Salat is not something good but at the same time it doesn't mean that without the presence of heart Allah dislikes our Salat and those verses do not refer to this. Of course presence of heart is one of the conditions of ideal Salat and we have to do our best to perform Salat by the presence of heart as much as possible for us, and this is something that gets better day by day. provided that we observe our other actions during the day - when we commit sins it makes it difficult to perform a good Salat.
Imam Ali bin Husain (A.S) was performing Salat, and there was someone looking at him. he says Imam was motionless as a piece of stick, as if he did not see anything around him, suddenly Imam's Aba fell but Imam didn’t attempt to fix it. After he finished his Salat this man went to Imam and said: what was this state that you were in? Imam said: don’t you know in whose presence I was?!the man said if this is Salat, then what should we call our prayers? Imam answered the deficiencies in your Salat can be made up for, by performing their Navafil ( mustahab salats that can be done with each vajib Salat).
One other thing to bear in mind:
Intercession (shafa'a) is not about sins, but also our good actions that have shortcomings and are not proper to bring them to the presence of Allah S.T , these actions also gets perfection by the intercession of the prophet and Ahlulbait(A.S).that's why Imam Sadiq(A.S) says:
All people, from the first to the last-even the prophets-need the intercession and Shafa'a of Mohammad (S.A.V.A) on the Day of Judgment:
مَاأَحَدٌمِنَالْأَوَّلِينَوَالْآخِرِينَإِلَّاوَهُوَمُحْتَاجٌإِلَىشَفَاعَةِمُحَمَّدٍصيَوْمَالْقِيَامَة[4]
وَمَامِنْأَحَدٍإِلَّايَحْتَاجُإِلَىشَفَاعَةِمُحَمَّدٍيَوْمَئِذٍ[5]
